Firewall Advanced Packet Rules

This Article Applies to:

  • Avast Business Hub

Advanced Packet Rules are the final level of Firewall rule evaluation, meaning they are utilized only if the connection does not fit any System or Application rules. We recommend you ensure these rules are controlled by your console for maximum security across your network.

Adding Advanced Packet Rules

  1. Click the Advanced packet rules tab
  2. Scroll down to the bottom on the page and click + Add packet rule
  3. Enter a unique name for the rule
  4. Select whether or not the rule is to Allow or Block traffic
  5. Change All protocols (256) to the correct protocol, such as TCP and UDP (257)
  6. Select the direction of the traffic the rule applies to: In, Out, or Both
  7. Add IP address (if applicable) and Local and Remote Port numbers (you may use commas for different port numbers, or a hyphen for a port range)
  8. Select what Network Profiles, between All, Public, and Private, contain this rule
  9. Click Add packet rule
    • We recommend to drag/drop the new custom packet rule to the top of the list so the local Essential/Premium/Ultimate Business Security clients will process this custom packet rule first
  10. Click Save in the bottom-right corner when you are done adding rules
